About NUSA
Background
In 1979, after Colonel (Retd.) Shawkat Ali was elected as a Member of Parliament for the first time, he announced the establishment of a nonprofit private development organization named “Naria Thana Non-Government Development Association” from the victory stage at the Naria B.L. High School field, with the aim of improving the lives of the poor. Later, this name was changed to “Naria Unnayan Samiti (NUSA)”, commonly known as NUSA.
Initially, NUSA operated across Naria Upazila, later expanding its activities throughout Shariatpur district. At present, NUSA is implementing various development programs through 45 branch offices in the districts of Madaripur, Chandpur, Munshiganj, Barishal, and Faridpur.
