Distressed Women Development (VGD) Program

Manpower engaged : 1 project manager, 5 field instructors; Besides, part-time manpower: 1 project director and 1 accountant.
Goal & Objective : The main goal of the program is to ensure the right to food of the destitute and poor women as well as to make them self-reliant by building a social security zone to implement the government’s commitment to poverty alleviation SDGs. In addition, to meet the needs of the family through the distribution of monthly food, to gain skills in life-sustaining and income-generating activities through training and to become self-reliant by building capital through savings.

Activities:
Life skills development and income generating training is provided to women VGD card holders. Life skills training such as

  1. VGD program on personal health and hygiene
  2. Disaster management and the impact of climate change
  3. Health food and nutrition for mothers and children and adolescents
  4. Empowerment of women
  5. The effects of HIV and AIDS, drugs and tobacco products.

 

Income generating training:

  1. Entrepreneur Development
  2. Raising domestic chickens and ducks
  3. Cultivation of vegetables next to the house and keeping cows and goats.

Achievement
In the specified months, 2526 women completed life skills training. From July 2019 to March 2020, the total savings of women have been deposited by the members in their respective banks at Rs 34,980. At the end of the term, ie within the next January / 21 months, their deposited money will be returned with the received bank interest.
